Responsibilities
- Analyze and calculate pension benefits for active and retired employees with high accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct regular audits of pension records to ensure strict compliance with District and Federal regulations (ERISA).
- Collaborate with actuaries and external vendors to review funding status and investment performance of pension plans.
- Provide expert guidance and support to HR teams and members regarding pension eligibility and payout structures.
- Prepare complex reports for the Board of Trustees and legislative bodies regarding plan performance and actuarial valuations.
- Monitor changes in federal and state retirement legislation and implement necessary policy updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Human Resources, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial analysis.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions and Pivot Tables.
- Experience with state or federal government payroll or retirement systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP) is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License (recommended for field travel).
