Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Calculate and process retirement benefits for current and prospective employees accurately and in a timely manner.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all pension calculations adhere to Ohio Revised Code and state retirement board policies.
- Employee Consultation: Provide detailed explanations of pension plans, vesting schedules, and benefit structures to employees via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Data Analysis: Analyze demographic and financial data to forecast retirement liabilities and recommend strategic adjustments.
- System Maintenance: Monitor and update pension management software to ensure data integrity and security.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current pension workflows and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Human Resources, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, retirement planning, or a related financial role.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of government pension structures, ERISA regulations, and actuarial principles.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and ERP systems; experience with state HR systems is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Licensure: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly desirable.
