Key Responsibilities
As a Pension Plan Administrator, your daily tasks will include:
- Overseeing the daily administration of defined benefit and contribution plans, ensuring accurate record-keeping and data integrity.
- Conducting actuarial valuations and preparing detailed financial reports for executive leadership and oversight committees.
- Ensuring strict compliance with federal regulations, including ERISA, and state-specific pension laws.
- Analyzing trends in retirement demographics and investment performance to optimize plan sustainability.
- Communicating complex pension concepts and benefit calculations to plan members, employers, and stakeholders in a clear, professional manner.
- Managing the reconciliation of pension fund assets and liabilities on a monthly and annual basis.
- Assisting in the development of long-term retirement strategy and policy recommendations.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- 3-5+ years of experience in pension administration, actuarial analysis, or government benefits management.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, FSA, or CAE are highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with pension administration software (e.g., Empower, Buck, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-paced government environment.
