Responsibilities
- Oversee Pension Operations: Manage the end-to-end administration of defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all retirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in federal and state regulations (ERISA, FERS, CSRS) and ensure all pension practices remain fully compliant with current laws.
- Actuarial Analysis: Collaborate with actuaries to review funding status, prepare required reports, and recommend strategies to maintain plan solvency.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees and retirees, resolving complex inquiries regarding eligibility, benefits, and payouts with empathy and precision.
- Data Integrity: Maintain rigorous internal controls over financial reporting systems, ensuring the highest standards of data security and accuracy.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current pension workflows and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Human Resources, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in pension administration, retirement plan management, or federal benefits consulting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) are mandatory.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of ERISA, FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System), and CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System) regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of sensitive data with 100% accuracy.
