Responsibilities
- Analyze complex urban policy challenges and develop data-driven recommendations for City Council and department leadership
- Lead cross-functional initiatives on housing affordability, climate action, and economic equity
- Conduct rigorous research using quantitative/qualitative methods to support evidence-based decision-making
- Collaborate with community stakeholders, nonprofits, and state/federal agencies to implement policy solutions
- Manage grant-funded projects with budgets exceeding $2M and coordinate interdepartmental task forces
- Present findings to elected officials through compelling visual reports and public testimony
- Mentor junior analysts and develop departmental policy frameworks
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of policy analysis experience in municipal, state, or federal government
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, Stata) and GIS mapping tools
- Proven track record of successful policy implementation with measurable community impact
- Deep knowledge of California's regulatory environment and public funding mechanisms
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex data for diverse audiences
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to off-site community meetings
