Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate state policies impacting Detroit's economic growth and infrastructure
- Analyze complex urban data to identify equity gaps and recommend evidence-based solutions
- Collaborate with city officials, community leaders, and legislative stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional projects addressing housing, transportation, and workforce development
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefs and legislative testimony for state leadership
- Monitor federal grant opportunities and manage compliance reporting
- Mentor junior analysts on quantitative research methodologies
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related field
- 5+ years policy analysis experience in government or non-profit sector
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software (R, SPSS, or Python)
- Demonstrated success in drafting state-level legislation or administrative rules
- Deep understanding of Michigan's urban challenges and demographic landscape
- Valid Michigan driver's license and willingness for statewide travel
- Superior written/verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
