Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze complex public safety policies and legislative proposals
- Conduct in-depth research and data analysis to inform policy decisions
- Collaborate with state agencies, law enforcement, and community stakeholders
- Prepare detailed policy briefs, reports, and legislative testimony
- Monitor implementation of existing policies and recommend improvements
- Represent the department in interagency meetings and public forums
- Manage policy projects from conception through implementation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of policy analysis or government experience
- Advanced knowledge of Texas state government operations
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with policy development lifecycle
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, R)
