Responsibilities
- Analyze complex fiscal policies, legislation, and regulations to assess economic impact and implementation feasibility
- Develop comprehensive policy briefs and recommendations for state leadership and legislative committees
- Lead cross-functional research initiatives on budget allocation, program performance, and emerging trends
- Present findings to high-level stakeholders including legislators, agency heads, and public interest groups
- Monitor federal policy developments and evaluate alignment with state priorities
- Collaborate with interagency teams to coordinate policy implementation across government departments
- Prepare testimony and supporting materials for legislative hearings and public forums
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of policy analysis experience in government or public sector
- Expertise in quantitative analysis and economic modeling tools (e.g., SAS, R, Stata)
- Deep knowledge of California's legislative process and state budget systems
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects with competing deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain one within 30 days
