Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive epidemiological studies to identify emerging health threats in Harris County
- Analyze complex health data using advanced statistical methods to inform evidence-based policy recommendations
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing public health emergency response protocols for natural disasters
- Develop and deliver professional training programs for healthcare professionals on disease prevention strategies
- Secure and manage federal/state grant funding for community health initiatives
- Represent the agency at public health conferences and stakeholder meetings across Southeast Texas
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field (PhD preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in public health analysis or research
- Advanced proficiency in SAS, R, or SPSS for statistical modeling and data visualization
- Proven track record of securing federal/state grants (>$500K in competitive funding)
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel statewide for fieldwork
- Experience with HIPAA compliance and protected health data management
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) credential required
