Responsibilities
- Analyze population health data using SQL, R, and Python to identify disease trends and health disparities
- Design interactive dashboards for public health officials using Tableau and Power BI
- Collaborate with epidemiologists to develop evidence-based intervention strategies
- Present findings to policymakers, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and California public health data regulations
- Maintain and enhance department's data infrastructure and quality assurance protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Data Science, Statistics, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years experience in healthcare or government data analysis
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, R, and Python with pandas/scikit-learn
- Expertise in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js)
- Strong knowledge of public health surveillance systems and metrics
- Certification in data governance (e.g., CDMP) or public health informatics
- Experience working with California-specific health datasets (e.g., CDPH, CHHS)
