Join Bexar County's urgent public health initiative and lead critical community wellness programs. We're seeking a passionate Senior Public Health Specialist to develop evidence-based strategies addressing health disparities in our diverse population. This high-impact role requires immediate deployment to combat emerging health challenges and implement equitable health policies across San Antonio's underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute county-wide health intervention programs targeting vulnerable populations
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify emerging health threats and resource allocation needs
- Collaborate with community organizations to implement culturally responsive health education initiatives
- Develop grant proposals to secure federal/state funding for public health infrastructure
- Lead cross-departmental emergency response protocols during public health crises
- Maintain compliance with CDC and Texas DSHS regulatory requirements
- Train public health staff on emerging best practices and technological tools
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health or related field with 5+ years of government/public sector experience
- Valid Texas Public Health License (PHL) or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Proven expertise in health disparity reduction and community-based participatory research
- Advanced data analysis skills (SPSS, R, or SAS) with epidemiological modeling experience
- Demonstrated success in securing federal/state health grants ($500k+ preferred)
- Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish required
- Emergency management certification (NIMS/ICS) preferred
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
