Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Review and approve engineering drawings, permits, and contractor documentation
- Investigate public complaints related to infrastructure issues and coordinate corrective actions
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and digital documentation in county systems
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and community stakeholders during project phases
- Enforce environmental regulations including erosion control and waste management protocols
- Train junior inspectors on county procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in public works construction inspection or civil engineering
- Valid California Inspector certification (QAC, NICET, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Caltrans and LA County Public Works standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, and inspection software
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification required
- Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical specifications
- Excellent written communication skills for reporting and documentation
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
