Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive land-use plans and zoning ordinances aligned with the City's Master Plan
- Lead community engagement initiatives for major infrastructure projects
- Analyze urban design proposals for compliance with historic preservation standards
- Coordinate with FEMA and state agencies on flood mitigation strategies
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and sustainability reports
- Mentor junior planners and oversee plan review processes
- Present findings to City Council, Planning Commission, and community stakeholders
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of municipal planning experience with FEMA certification
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and CAD drafting
- Strong knowledge of Louisiana's Coastal Zone Management Act
- Experience with community outreach and public speaking
- Valid Louisiana driver's license
- LEED AP or AICP certification preferred
