Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive land use policies aligned with LA's General Plan
- Lead environmental reviews (CEQA) for major infrastructure and development projects
- Collaborate with community stakeholders and public officials on zoning amendments
- Analyze demographic and economic data to inform urban growth strategies
- Oversee capital improvement projects prioritizing affordable housing and green infrastructure
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for City Council approval
- Manage cross-departmental initiatives for sustainable urban development
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive urban planning experience in municipal government
- California AICP certification required
- Expertise in CEQA/NEPA compliance and environmental documentation
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and urban modeling tools
- Strong analytical skills for policy impact assessment and trend forecasting
- Experience managing complex public projects with diverse stakeholder groups
- Valid California Class C driver's license
