Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban planning policies aligned with Oakland's General Plan
- Analyze zoning regulations and land use proposals for compliance and community impact
- Lead community outreach initiatives and public hearings on development projects
- Prepare detailed environmental impact reports and planning documentation
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure and housing initiatives
- Monitor state and federal regulatory changes affecting urban development
- Advise City Council on planning strategies and policy recommendations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of municipal planning experience with emphasis on community development
- Proficiency in GIS software and urban planning analytical tools
- Strong knowledge of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and planning regulations
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with competing priorities
- Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record
