Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date radio logs, incident reports, and status cards.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with field personnel, supervisors, and the general public.
- Provide vital information and instructions to callers during critical situations to ensure officer and public safety.
- Monitor and prioritize multiple radio frequencies and phone lines simultaneously.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new dispatch personnel.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Maryland Class C Driver's License required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer operations, typing, and navigating multiple systems simultaneously.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
