Responsibilities
- Case Management: Conduct thorough reviews of social security claims, gathering necessary documentation and evidence to determine eligibility.
- Decision Making: Apply federal regulations and agency policies to make fair and accurate decisions on disability and retirement claims.
- Communication: Draft clear, written decisions for claimants and provide verbal explanations when required to resolve complex inquiries.
- Customer Service: Assist the public with over-the-phone and in-person inquiries regarding their benefits and application status.
- Compliance: Ensure all case files adhere to strict federal privacy and security standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED with equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Previous experience in administrative support, customer service, or the legal/social work field is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong analytical reasoning skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and guidelines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information simply.
- Technical Proficiency: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn agency-specific case management software quickly.
