Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate case files and court records in compliance with state regulations.
- Receive, file, and index legal documents, petitions, and motions.
- Assist the public and attorneys with inquiries regarding case status, court schedules, and procedural requirements.
- Prepare and issue court orders, summons, and writs; ensure proper service of process.
- Operate office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and case management software systems.
- Process payments for court fees, fines, and traffic citations accurately.
- Support the judicial staff during court proceedings by managing docket logs and scheduling.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or Criminal Justice is preferred.
- Previous experience in a legal or court environment is highly desirable but not mandatory for exceptional candidates.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with court case management software is a plus.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as required by court schedule.
