Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex IT projects from initiation through closure, ensuring alignment with state strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between government agencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and mitigate risks proactively.
- Ensure full compliance with California state regulations and procurement policies.
- Communicate project status, updates, and challenges to senior leadership and the public.
- Mentor junior project managers and team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management, preferably within the government or public sector.
- Proven experience managing budgets exceeding $1M.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or CAPM certification is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
