Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) for county departments.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics for hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data and systems from cyber threats.
- Manage server installations, updates, and maintenance to ensure 99.9% uptime.
- Provide technical guidance and training to non-technical staff members regarding software usage and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of IT assets and inventory to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to resolve complex technical issues and implement new systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent technical certification and significant experience).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration, system support, or IT infrastructure.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of government compliance standards, such as FERPA or HIPAA, is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certification such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or CCNA is a plus.
