Responsibilities
- Design and oversee highway construction and maintenance projects in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Analyze traffic patterns and recommend infrastructure improvements for enhanced safety and efficiency
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, cost estimates, and project documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including urban planners, environmental specialists, and construction managers
- Conduct field inspections and ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
- Manage project budgets and timelines while adhering to TxDOT protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of professional transportation engineering experience
- Valid Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and traffic modeling software
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT design standards, MUTCD, and federal transportation regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic government environment
