Responsibilities
- Design and analyze transportation infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, and traffic systems
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and environmental impact assessments
- Review and approve development plans for compliance with transportation standards
- Utilize CAD software and GIS tools for project modeling and documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, municipalities, and federal agencies during project execution
- Investigate traffic incidents and recommend infrastructure improvements
- Stay current with transportation policies, regulations, and emerging technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and traffic simulation software
- Familiarity with NCDOT design standards and MUTCD guidelines
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
