Responsibilities
- Design and analyze transportation systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for highway projects
- Conduct traffic studies and impact assessments for new developments
- Oversee construction contractors and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Collaborate with local governments and federal agencies on project alignment
- Prepare technical reports and environmental documentation
- Manage project timelines and budgets within DOT frameworks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina
- Proficiency in transportation modeling software (e.g., Synchro, Transyt)
- Familiarity with NCDOT design standards and FHWA regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with public works project management
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
