Responsibilities
- Design and oversee complex transportation infrastructure projects including highways, interchanges, and transit systems
- Conduct traffic impact studies and recommend evidence-based mitigation strategies
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and contractor compliance with DOT regulations
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, plans, and specifications for public review
- Coordinate with local municipalities, planning boards, and federal agencies
- Implement sustainable design practices and emerging transportation technologies
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality control of engineering deliverables
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering (ABET accredited)
- 5+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and traffic simulation software
- Demonstrated experience with NCDOT design standards and FHWA regulations
- Strong project management skills with $5M+ project oversight
- Excellent written/verbal communication and public presentation abilities
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
