Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities for highway crews, including pothole repair, debris removal, and traffic signal maintenance.
- Ensure strict adherence to Caltrans safety standards, OSHA regulations, and Department of Transportation policies.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and equipment, and initiate procurement orders when necessary.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training to subordinate staff to ensure high productivity and morale.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and weather-related incidents to restore roadways promptly.
- Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate records of work performed and resources utilized.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and problem-solving among the maintenance crew.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in transportation maintenance or civil construction.
- Valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger endorsement.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate a diverse workforce.
- Proficiency in using fleet management software and basic computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions and lift heavy objects.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
