Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain highway pavements, signs, traffic signals, and drainage systems
- Operate specialized equipment including survey tools and construction machinery
- Prepare detailed field reports and documentation for project compliance
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design implementation and quality control
- Respond to emergency weather-related infrastructure issues
- Ensure adherence to federal and state transportation regulations
- Train junior technicians on safety protocols and operational standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of construction/maintenance experience
- Kansas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Proficiency in surveying equipment and CAD software
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting infrastructure issues
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean record
- Experience with KDOT project documentation systems
