Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain traffic control systems, signs, and signals across Virginia Beach
- Operate specialized equipment for road marking and pavement markings
- Collect and analyze traffic data using advanced monitoring tools
- Coordinate emergency response for weather-related transportation incidents
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for infrastructure projects
- Train junior technicians on safety protocols and equipment operation
- Collaborate with engineering teams on traffic flow optimization studies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of transportation maintenance experience
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrakes endorsement
- ITM (Institute of Traffic Management) Level II certification preferred
- Proficiency with traffic data collection software and GIS mapping tools
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and emergencies
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to safety regulations
- Experience with VDOT maintenance standards and protocols
