Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of roadways, bridges, and traffic signals using GPS and laser measurement tools
- Assist in traffic control setup for construction zones following MDOT safety protocols
- Collect and analyze pavement condition data using automated survey vehicles
- Prepare technical reports with photographic evidence and geospatial coordinates
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with state transportation standards
- Respond to emergency road condition reports during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of construction/transportation experience
- Valid Michigan Class E driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic surveying software
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of MUTCD traffic control standards
