Job Description
Immediate opportunity: Join the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) as a Transportation Technician to support critical infrastructure projects across the city. PBOT is seeking motivated individuals to assist with traffic signal maintenance, road condition assessments, and field data collection. Ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in construction support, surveying, or municipal infrastructure work. Training on city-specific protocols will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections of traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings
- Collect and document transportation infrastructure data using digital tools
- Support emergency response teams during weather-related incidents
- Assist with traffic control setup for construction zones and special events
- Operate surveying equipment and GIS mapping systems
- Maintain accurate field logs and submit daily progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of construction/maintenance experience
- Valid Oregon Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with mobile data collection applications
- Strong attention to detail and safety compliance awareness
