Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray screening equipment and walk-through metal detectors to identify potential threats in luggage and passenger carry-ons.
- Screen passengers, checked baggage, and cargo for prohibited items in strict compliance with TSA directives and federal regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to travelers, answering questions and assisting individuals with special needs or security concerns.
- Enforce security protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment for all airport operations.
- Collaborate with fellow security officers and team leads to maintain situational awareness and operational efficiency during shifts.
- Participate in ongoing training, emergency response drills, and certification courses as required.
- Document findings accurately and report any suspicious activity or security breaches immediately.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check, drug screening, and medical examination.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods, often in uniform.
- Valid driverβs license is preferred but not always required.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- English proficiency is mandatory to effectively communicate with the public.
