Responsibilities
- Oversee all city council operations including agenda preparation, minute documentation, and ordinance management
- Manage public records requests and ensure compliance with California Public Records Act
- Administer municipal elections, voter registration, and campaign finance reporting
- Serve as custodian of official city records, archives, and historical documents
- Lead clerk's office staff and implement digital record-keeping systems
- Facilitate public access to government information and meetings
- Advise city officials on parliamentary procedure and legislative processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of municipal government experience with 2+ years in clerk/records management role
- Expert knowledge of California election laws and public records regulations
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, SharePoint)
- Proven ability to manage high-volume public records requests with strict deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- California Notary Public certification required
