Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs of municipal infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as mowers, sweepers, and hand tools
- Respond promptly to emergency service requests and weather-related incidents
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city regulations
- Assist with traffic control and public safety initiatives during community events
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated project execution
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of relevant experience in public works or construction
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to public service values
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends as needed
