Responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of garbage, trash, and recyclables using heavy-duty sanitation trucks.
- Perform manual labor, including lifting, loading, and hauling heavy materials and containers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of collection vehicles and equipment before, during, and after shifts.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city ordinances while operating vehicles.
- Identify and report neighborhood hazards, maintenance issues, or illegal dumping activities.
- Interact professionally with the public and assist with special clean-up operations when needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Valid Illinois Driver's License (Class C or higher).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
- No recent felony convictions (Standard for Municipal Employment).
