Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of IT projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with agency strategic goals and New York State standards.
- Manage cross-functional teams of technical staff, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.
- Execute rigorous risk management and mitigation strategies to address potential project blockers and ensure business continuity.
- Facilitate regular sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives using Agile and Scrum frameworks to drive team efficiency.
- Monitor project health through detailed reporting, KPI tracking, and status updates for executive leadership and department heads.
- Collaborate with compliance officers to ensure all deliverables meet strict federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Resolve high-level technical issues and scope changes professionally, maintaining strong relationships with key vendors.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT Project Management, preferably within the government or public sector.
- Proven expertise in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or Asana.
- PMP, CAPM, or PgMP certification is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets exceeding $1M and lead teams of 10+ members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict deadlines.
