Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair municipal infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., graders, dump trucks) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency public works incidents during severe weather events
- Perform routine inspections of city property and facilities
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on large-scale civic projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Document work activities and maintain accurate field reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Kansas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Certification in municipal safety protocols (OSHA 30 preferred)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and irregular hours
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic repair skills
