Responsibilities
- System Administration: Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
- Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for hardware, software, and network infrastructure issues.
- Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of IT infrastructure projects and system upgrades.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, system changes, and technical documentation.
- Compliance: Ensure all IT operations adhere to state and federal regulations and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, or State of Texas IT certification preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with non-technical staff.
- License: Valid driver’s license required for occasional travel to state facilities.
