Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public facilities, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including trucks, loaders, and street sweepers safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather events (floods, hurricanes) for debris removal and public safety
- Conduct regular inspections of public spaces to identify hazards and maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for special events and community initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and municipal safety regulations
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B or higher)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Clean background check and drug-free workplace compliance
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of New Orleans geography and infrastructure systems
