Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal facilities, parks, and public spaces
- Operate heavy machinery including street sweepers, dump trucks, and snow removal equipment
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g., storm damage, public safety hazards) within 4 hours
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs per municipal standards
- Conduct daily inspections of assigned areas to identify potential hazards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B)
- Certification in hazardous materials handling (HAZWOPER) or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Proficiency with GPS and municipal maintenance software
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
