Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on public roads, sidewalks, and green spaces
- Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, graders, and snow removal equipment
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, storms) for public safety
- Conduct inspections of municipal infrastructure and report hazards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and city safety protocols
- Assist in disaster recovery and community cleanup initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of public works or construction experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
