Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and general cleanup on public works sites.
- Operate heavy machinery such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, and pavement breakers under supervision.
- Assist in traffic control, flagging operations, and maintaining safe work zones for the public.
- Maintain and repair roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure city infrastructure integrity.
- Load, unload, and organize construction materials and equipment at job sites.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for storm cleanup and snow removal during inclement weather.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and city policies while on the job.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; vocational training is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screening.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat and snow.
- Basic knowledge of construction or public works safety procedures.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects regularly.
- Reliability and a positive attitude toward teamwork.
