Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate machinery such as dump trucks, rollers, and loaders under supervision.
- Street Maintenance: Perform paving, patching, and line painting on city streets to ensure safe travel conditions.
- Site Preparation: Clear debris, grade soil, and prepare construction sites for various public works projects.
- Utility Maintenance: Assist in the installation and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure.
- Snow and Ice Control: Respond to winter weather events to clear snow and ice from critical roadways and sidewalks.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and organize construction materials and tools efficiently.
- Inspect Work: Assist in basic quality control checks to ensure projects meet city standards.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License: A valid Class C driver's license is required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- High School Diploma: High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Work History: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal services is a plus but not mandatory.
- Chemical Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Reliability: Punctual and dependable attendance record is essential.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
