Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA, VA policies, and federal regulations
- Analyze and optimize health information workflows to improve data accuracy and accessibility for clinical teams
- Lead system implementation projects for new health IT initiatives across VA facilities in Illinois
- Train healthcare staff on information management systems and best practices for data security
- Collaborate with IT and clinical leadership to identify system improvements and resolve technical issues
- Conduct regular audits of health information systems to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for critical health information infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations and federal health IT standards
- Proficiency in database management, SQL, and data analytics tools
- Certification as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) preferred
- Demonstrated experience with federal IT procurement processes and system lifecycle management
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
