Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems for veteran patients
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security protocols
- Coordinate with medical teams to support patient care documentation
- Analyze health information for accuracy and completeness
- Implement federal health information management policies
- Train staff on health information systems
- Conduct audits of medical records for regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years health information management experience
- Knowledge of VA VistA EHR system
- Familiarity with HIPAA and federal health regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
