Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with VA VISTA protocols and HIPAA regulations
- Oversee health information coding, indexing, and retrieval processes to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Conduct audits and quality assurance reviews for health documentation integrity
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve data discrepancies and optimize information workflows
- Implement federal records management policies and retention schedules
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory compliance updates
- Collaborate with IT security teams to protect veteran data against breaches
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management with federal systems
- Expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and VA regulations
- Advanced proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, VA VISTA)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and compliance focus
