Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health record systems (VistA) with strict adherence to HIPAA and federal regulations
- Oversee health information privacy and security protocols across clinical departments
- Implement data quality controls and audit procedures for medical records
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding compliance
- Lead system upgrades and process improvements for information management workflows
- Train healthcare personnel on EHR best practices and regulatory requirements
- Generate compliance reports and analytics for leadership review
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (CAHIIM accredited)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare information systems
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, HIPAA Privacy Rule, and CMS regulations
- Proficiency in VistA/CPRS systems and HL7/FHIR standards
- Demonstrated project management experience in healthcare IT implementations
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearance
