Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize electronic health record systems (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Lead implementation of FHIR-based health information exchange protocols
- Develop data governance strategies for sensitive veteran health information
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve health IT interoperability challenges
- Conduct system audits and ensure compliance with federal healthcare standards
- Train staff on health information management best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- 3+ years experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or VA VistA)
- Certified Health Information Administrator (CHIA) or RHIA credential required
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH Act, and 21st Century Cures Act
- Experience with FHIR standards and API-based health data exchange
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Demonstrated project management skills in healthcare IT implementations
