Responsibilities
- Maintain and audit electronic health records (EHR) in VistA system ensuring HIPAA/FERPA compliance
- Process and scan incoming medical documents with 99.9% accuracy
- Coordinate record retrieval requests from healthcare providers and veterans
- Train staff on medical documentation protocols and EHR updates
- Generate compliance reports for regulatory audits
- Implement new health information management initiatives
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or related field
- 3+ years medical records experience in acute care setting
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or RHIA credential preferred
- Expertise in VistA EHR system and VA documentation standards
- Proficient in ICD-10/CPT coding and medical terminology
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
- Strong analytical skills with attention to regulatory compliance
