Responsibilities
- Process and adjudicate veterans' claims for disability compensation, pension, education benefits, and healthcare services
- Provide comprehensive counseling to veterans regarding eligibility requirements and benefit options
- Review medical records and supporting documentation to determine benefit entitlements
- Represent the VA in appeals hearings and ensure compliance with federal regulations
- Collaborate with medical professionals and community partners to support holistic veteran care
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation in VA systems
- Conduct outreach to underserved veteran communities in New York
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- Experience with veterans' benefits programs or federal claims processing
- Strong analytical skills for complex case review and decision-making
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and empathy
- Valid driver's license (if travel required)
