Responsibilities
- Process and adjudicate veterans' benefit claims with precision and compassion
- Conduct comprehensive interviews to gather claim documentation and medical evidence
- Apply complex federal regulations (38 CFR) to determine eligibility for VA benefits
- Develop and maintain detailed case files ensuring compliance with federal standards
- Provide clear guidance to veterans regarding benefit entitlements and appeals processes
- Collaborate with medical professionals to assess service-connected disabilities
- Utilize Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) for case management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or higher
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal claims processing procedures
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to individual cases
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective veteran communication
- Proficiency in electronic claims processing systems
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass federal background check
- Valid state driver's license may be required
