Responsibilities
- Patrol & Enforcement: Patrol assigned jurisdictions to enforce state laws, investigate traffic violations, and respond to emergency calls for service during the weekend shift.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to accidents, crimes, and disturbances, applying appropriate de-escalation and tactical techniques.
- Report Writing: Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports and case files for court review and administrative record-keeping.
- Community Engagement: Interact with the community to build trust, provide information, and foster positive relationships with residents and businesses.
- Vehicle Operations: Safely operate state vehicles, including patrol cars and motorcycles, in various weather and traffic conditions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with local law enforcement agencies and other state departments to coordinate public safety efforts.
Qualifications
- Legal Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver's License: Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Background: No felony convictions and must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph exam and medical evaluation.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to pass the physical agility test and maintain physical fitness standards required for law enforcement duties.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public.
